If you want a smooth and trouble-free tooth extraction surgery, it’s best that you do all you can to prepare for it. Preparation will help you know what to expect during the appointment as well as help you organize your time and plans so you aren’t more stressed. If you need help preparing for your appointment, we are happy to help you by recommending that you do the following things:
Confirm your plans
We suggest double checking the time of your appointment so you won’t be late. This will also help you plan your day around the appointment if you need to. We also recommend having a ride to and from our office because the dental sedatives might not make it safe for you to drive home. So, if you haven’t made travel plans, please do so.
Follow the food instructions
We generally recommend that you fast 8-12 hours before your appointment, so please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. If you have a health condition that does not allow you to fast, please inform us of this condition and we will work something out.
Ask your dentist for the details
If you ask your dentist for details about the extraction, you will know exactly what to expect and you will be able to use the time between appointments to prepare. Knowing what to expect might also help you feel more calm and relaxed rather than scared and nervous.
