Fluoride is a natural mineral that can be found in food or water; however, if you don’t get enough of it, your smile could be in danger. Each day, minerals are added to and taken from your smile. But sometimes, more fluoride minerals are taken from your smile than added back to it, so it’s extremely important that you do your best to add those minerals back into your pearly whites.

To help you increase the amount of fluoride your teeth consume, please feel free to do the following things:

1. Drink more of your community water. Each city adds fluoride to the watering system, which gives you an easy and accessible way to get the fluoride you need.

2. Use more fluoridated oral hygiene products. With the help of fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash, your teeth will get nourished and strengthened each day, giving you the best chance at fighting tooth decay and other dental issues.

3. Get a professional fluoride treatment. Each time you come into our office for a dental cleaning and exam, your dentist or dental hygienist will give you a fluoride treatment that will come in the form of a foam, gel or varnish. This treatment will generally be provided after your teeth have been deeply cleaned and before your smile is examined.
